“Access to key networks and decision-makers is a major step in levelling the playing field and diversifying our content—from the stories we tell to the storytellers we support and advance.”

CMPA Prime Time 2023 delegates: Praneet Akilla (actor and producer) and Fonna Seidu (producer).

We belong everywhere.

The BIPOC TV & Film Festival and Market Access Initiative aims to increase the presence and success of diverse creators at industry events across Canada and internationally.

Through this initiative and the support of our partners, we facilitate access to major Canadian and International festivals and markets with discounts on registration, complimentary passes, and travel assistance. We also offer pitch training and festival strategy sessions, panels, and workshops with programmers, distributors, sales agents, and marketing experts to ensure their success.

Filmmakers and Creators have attended:

  • Toronto International Film Festival

  • CMPA Prime Time

  • European Film Market Fiction Toolbox Programme

  • Content Canada

  • Whistler Film Festival

  • Kidscreen Summit

We thank our sponsors and partners for demonstrating their commitment to equity and inclusion: the Canada Media Fund, Telefilm Canada, Rogers Group of Funds, the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA), Corus Entertainment, Shaw Rocket Fund and TIFF.

“As a black woman filmmaker, we don’t always get to step into spaces like this. Attending TIFF is a major step forward for my career and project development. ”

Latitia Osbourne, Writer, Producer

2023 TIFF Delegate

“Thank you for all your help on my journey thus far! By helping me attend Prime Time this year, I was able to secure a job at Lark Productions, so again, thank you for everything! ”

Abubakar Khan, Producer

2023 CMPA Prime Time Delegate

“Where I think I am unique in the marketplace is I can scarcely think of many people who write on the intersections of Black and queer identity, all while exploring the spaces of comedy and genre. TIFF accreditation is beneficial at this stage in my career. It will help me continue to make connections and learn from industry professionals. Most importantly, it will help support me as I find my place in the industry.”

Brandon Hackett, Writer, Producer
