Meet the filmmakers attending EFM + Berlinale 2024

EFM and Berlinale are just around the corner! Meet the filmmakers who will be at the 2024 market:

🌟 Amir Zagara, who participated in the EFM Fiction Toolbox with his project, A Good Day Will Come.

🌟 Murry Peeters, also in the EFM Fiction Toolbox with her project, Woman Meets Girl.

🌟 Kamika Bianca Guerra-Walker, who received Berlinale + EFM Accreditation.

The EFM Fiction Toolbox programme is part of the European Film Market's Diversity & Inclusion initiatives. This immersive programme includes guidance and mentorship by expert consultants and coordinators as well as in-depth industry know-how and connections via workshops, matchmaking events, community-building sessions and networking events.

Get to know the filmmakers:

Amir Zargara is an Iranian-Canadian filmmaker, renowned for incorporating his immigrant experiences and life with a stutter into his creative vision. So far he has produced a diverse portfolio, including a feature film, shorts, and docs. His work, celebrated in over 100 film festivals and earning more than 30 awards, highlights human complexity and empathy. He was also honored with the Reelworld Film Festival Outstanding Producer – Short Film 2022 Award.

Murry Peeters (she/her) is an award-winning, actor, writer, director and producer. She seeks to use storytelling to increase empathy. She prioritizes stories by, from and about folks who have faced systemic barriers and inequities.

Kamika Bianca Guerra–Walker of Jamaican and Chilean heritage is a Calgarian, Multidisciplinary visionary - creating as a visual artist, poet, model, actress, and excels as a film director, producer, and writer. Her films have garnered recognition from prominent organizations for their ability to evoke empathy, and change in treatment towards those experiencing mental illnesses, addictions, and houselessness. Kamika is currently engulfed in several professional development residences across Canada producing different works of art in printmaking, mixed media, film and poetry. She is in development for her directorial debut, feature documentary “Finding My Way Back to You” following the story of reuniting with her father, Calvin, after being separated for 13 years due to his diagnosis of Schizophrenia. Kamika’s ultimate aspiration is to continue exploring and blessing artistic mediums to ignite societal change and inspire individuals to always approach life with compassion as their leading principle, triumphing over their human instinctive judgment.
