Screening + Talkback: Streams Flow From A River

We’re hosting a screening of Christopher Yip’s Streams Flow From A River at Society Clubhouse in collaboration with Fae Pictures and House of Arts.

The screening will include the first four episodes of the series. A Q&A with the attending cast and crew, including director Christopher Yip and producer Shant Joshi will follow the screening.

Christopher Yip, a Chinese Canadian writer/director based in Toronto, examines sexuality, belonging, and love through a distinct diasporic lens. His original digital drama series, Streams Flow From a River, for which Christopher was showrunner and director, was released on April 1st, 2023, on Super Channel with Fae Pictures. Christopher’s next project, Fish Boy, funded by the Toronto Arts Council, the Indigenous Screen Office, Telefilm Canada, and the Canada Council of the Arts, was also released in 2023.

Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Christopher earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Journalism before moving to Toronto to study writing and directing at Sheridan College. His commitment to his craft and relentless work ethic have helped land him work as a script coordinator, story editor and writer on series and features aired on Amazon Prime, Crave, Netflix, TVO Kids and CBC. A child of immigrants from Hong Kong, Christopher’s goal is to tell the kinds of stories he wished he had seen as a kid - ones centred on and featuring strong and compelling Queer and Asian characters. He is an alumnus of BIPOC TV & Film’s Kids’ TV Writing program and Showrunner Boot Camp.
